Welcome to the official website for The Raymond B. Hobbs Middle School Band! Milton, FL, 32570.

Attention Symphonic Parents and Students:  Please save the following dates:
  • Thurs, March 11th during our class time we will have this year's MPC, Music Performance Clinic. (Other years referred to as MPA, Music Performance Assessment).  The clinicians are coming to us during our class period to listen and critique us.  We will also be recording our 3 performance pieces in class and are hoping for everyone to be a part of making a beautiful performance recording for us to listen to afterwards.  The clinicians will be distanced and masked.  Students - Please remember to wear your new Band Polo to school that day with black pants or jeans, or the darkest solid pants you own.
  • Our Solo and Ensemble Festival will also be at Hobbs.  It will be Saturday, April 10th.  Parents - Please ask your child for the gold solo form.  It was originally due Friday the 18th, but since our week was shortened, it is now due Thursday Feb. 25th.  Please read the yellow form carefully.  Students - If you were in class for our demo of SmartMusic, please try what we showed you.  Go to our Teams page for further instructions on how to use SmartMusic and how to pick a solo.  As of 3/3 - All students in Symphonic have been assigned a solo and given their printed solo. (A few solos had to be changed from yellow sheet request due to that solo being out of print.)  Please work with your SmartMusic parts at home to assist you.  After March 11th Mr. C will be offering after school solo lessons and Mr. M will be offering during class solo lessons.
Symphonic Parents only:  Below is the link to the polo shirt we are using for all above mentioned performances and for our Spring Concert in May.   It includes a picture of the shirt and the blue order form due 2/24.
Symph. Polo
The Symphonic Yellow Solo form is below in case your child has not yet shown it to you.  Please print, read and return to the band room by Thursday, 2/25.  Please return later if you are just now getting this.  Thanks!

Florida All-State Band member, tuba player, Graceson Spears!
Congratulations to tuba player, Graceson Spears, for being selected by audition to the 2020-21 Florida All-State Band! This year the audition process was especially complicated and we are proud of Graceson for all of his hard work, preparation, and for his accomplishment!
Click this link to read the very informative and encouraging recent research performed at the University of Minnesota with wind instruments and Covid spread - https://twin-cities.umn.edu/news-events/musical-instruments-dont-spread-aerosols-far-you-might-think  Because of this article, Mr. C and Mr. M have reconfigured some of the instrument seating again to fit the outcomes of this research.  With vapors only reaching a maximum of 1.9 ft according to this research, with our band room seating already at 6 feet apart, and with our 2 new hospital grade HEPA air filters, we are encouraged that we are doing everything we can to keep our musicians healthy.

We are very sorry the live streaming cut off before Symphonic Band. Please go back to the FB link below to view and listen to the Symphonic Class 3 pieces from the winter concert. All classes are now posted in case audio cut out on you during the original streaming. Mr. Mozina posted these on the FB page the afternoon of 12/18. Thank you!

Instrument Selection Appointments
Attention all level band students - Several people have contacted me concerning that as they start to view schedules on FOCUS, it does not show a Band class. I’ve contacted the front office and they said schedules are not currently correct online and won’t be until some time after the second week of August. Another question has been "Can my child come to school for only Band and take their other classes online?" The answer is yes, but you must supply the transportation to and from. ALSO... "yes" depends on which of the 3 options you choose.  Please click Options button below to learn more
