- Thursday November 7th - All-County Band auditions at Pace HS. This is for Symphonic or Intermediate students who qualify based on class assignments first quarter. Mr. C will send home recommendations to parents of those who qualify to audition. Audition times will be given when you register online. Online registration will be posted here starting sometime first week of October and closing October 29th.
- All-County results posted here sometime Nov. 13th.
- Winter Band Concert for all level Band classes - Thursday Dec. 5th at MHS auditorium. - Parents drop students off at MHS auditorium between 5:30 and 6:00 with instrument and music only. Leave instrument case in car then find a parking space. Performance starts at 6:30pm. Symphonic and Jazz - wear school issued uniforms with solid black shoes. Boys, solid black socks as well. If you don't have solid black shoes, use solid black socks over shoes to make them look solid black. Intermediate and Beginner Classes - wear your nicest school-appropriate outfit. (please don't go shop for a new outfit, just the nicest you currently own.) Santa hats are allowed for this performance. Parents - All students must stay for entire performance. Students are dismissed after Symphonic Band's last piece. Everything should be done by 7:35. Thanks.
- Thursday, March 13th - Symphonic Band Music Performance Assessment(MPA) at Ft. Walton Bch. HS. Performance time TBA by FBA(Florida Bandmasters Association). Symphonic Parents - please leave this entire date open. Wind players - avoid orthodontia 3 weeks prior to MPA. Thank you.
- Starting Jan 13th - For preparations for above mentioned Symphonic MPA, Symphonic parents/students please leave the following open for after school SECTIONALS: Mondays - French Horns; Tuesdays - Trumpets; Wednesdays - flutes, clarinets and alto saxes; Thursdays - Trombones, baritones, bass clarinets, tenor sax, bassoon and tubas; Friday - Percussion. Sectionals go after school until 3:30. All sectionals end March 12th.
- Saturday, April 12th - FBA Solo and Ensemble Festival at Avalon MS for Symphonic and Intermediate students. Event sign up will happen in January online here on our website.
- TBA - Spring Band Concert and Awards Night. Sometime in late April or early May. Location, date and time posted here as soon as known from church host. For all level Band classes.
Once again, our band students excelled at All-County Band auditions! Hobbs had the highest number selected from any school, with 26 musicians selected! Additionally, we had the highest number of 1st and 2nd place scores! As one of 10 middle schools represented, Hobbs makes up nearly 30% of the All-County Band! Additionally, we had 3 motivated students apply for an honor band which we have never had applicants. These students pursued this honor band on their own and were selected for the Troy University Southeastern US Middle School Honor Band! They are:

This just in from Troy (11/14 - 8:30 pm) - All 3 of our students made 1st chair in each of their sections! They auditioned against students from Alabama, Georgia and Florida! Congrats Kylie, Christopher and Juliette!

And last but not least, we had another Florida All-State Band student selected this year. Congratulations to flutist Kylie Kilgore! She will travel to Tampa in January to perform in this prestigious ensemble!

March 9, 2023: Congratulations to our 2023 Symphonic Band for earning All Superior ratings at our yearly Music Performance Assessment and A's in each caption of Performance Fundamentals, Technical Preparation and Musical Effect from the 3 stage judges and the Sight Reading judge! One stage judge even had A+ as our final grade in each caption! Way to go Symphonic Band students! We will listen to your performance recording tomorrow in class (March 10th).
Congratulations Jazz Members on your performance Friday, April 28th, 2023 at the Northwest Florida Jazz Festival held at Pace Assembly of God Church. The band was recognized as Outstanding Middle School Jazz Band along with 2 individual awards given - Brayden Wilson, Most Outstanding Middle School Musician, and Nathan Garcia, Most Outstanding Middle School Improvised Soloist!

These students were selected from thousands of auditioners throughout the state via their recorded audition in mid-September. State results just came out in November. They will travel to Tampa in January to perform in this prestigious ensemble. Congratulations to these 4 outstanding musicians!!!!

For the first time in 2 years, our county had its Middle School All-County band audition last Thursday. Results were released 11/8, and our Jaguars performed as strong as they did pre-pandemic! - If your child plays a school-owned instrument - tuba, French horn, tenor sax, bari sax, baritone/euphonium, oboe or bassoon, and bass clarinet, please submit your one time $100 school rental payment to the locked money box in the band room as soon as possible. Please make sure checks are made out to Hobbs Band and that you include your child's name on the check. Percussion students please submit a one time $50 school rental payment for the use of the school percussion equipment for the year. Thank you!
- Remember- If any rental is a financial hardship, please send a written note in a sealed envelope to Mr. Colón stating so along with what amount you think you can pay.
