All level band classes: SAVE THE DATE — Our Winter Band Concert will be Thursday, Dec. 17th at Milton HS Auditorium. Music starts at 6:30 PM, students report to stage area wearing a mask at 6:00 PM. This involves all level Band classes, so save the date! We look forward to our students performing!!!
Students may wear the following: Any "Sunday Best" style of clothing your child already owns. Please do not make a new clothing purchase for the concert. Girls: A school code dress, skirt outfit or pant outfit. Boys: Slacks, dress shirt. Coat and tie is encouraged but optional. Another option for both boys and girls is any Hobbs band shirt with long pants. Santa hats are also acceptable for all musicians to wear that night. Symphonic and Jazz will not be wearing our traditional school band uniforms due to us not being able to have uniform fittings before December 17th.
Important Details in a nutshell:
Family members: RESERVE YOUR SEATS ON THE TAB BELOW. (Up to 4 audience seats per student in order for us to meet the requirement of 50% capacity in MHS auditorium.) Due to number of seats available as of 12/2, maximum new reservations per child is 2 audience members. If you registered before 12/2, your up-to-4 reservation remains.
Reservation feature will close once we reach 50% audience capacity. You will receive a reservation confirmation within 48 hours of your reservation.

Important Details in a nutshell:
- Before you park, drop off your child as close to auditorium (near MHS gym) with their instrument and music (leave case in car), then park your car and make your way to the front entrance of auditorium for parent party check-in.
- Your child reports to the stage area by 6:00 p.m. You go to check in once you are parked.
- You and your party must match the number of people for which you made a reservation. Please be patient at check in. Our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Gardner, and 2 other band moms will be running the check-in table. Please cooperate with them as they are making sure we keep our promise of 50% or less audience capacity. This will allow us and all bands to continue to offer live performances second semester.
- All music starts at 6:30 p.m.
- Once your party is seated, PLEASE make sure you have at least one seat between your party and the next, and that all of your party remains masked for the concert.
- It is very important that at no time during the concert you approach the stage or the student seating area. After Symphonic Band is finished (they are last group), we will dismiss all level students via a stage door to the side walk just outside the auditorium. Parents, for everyone’s safety, please exit the way you entered and meet your child outside after the concert, not in the auditorium. Thanks for making this performance safe for everyone.
- For those friends and family who are staying home and watching via live streaming, the link will be posted here on the band website Thursday afternoon. It will be a Facebook link, so make sure someone in your stay-home group has a Facebook account to watch live.

Congratulations to tuba player, Graceson Spears, for being selected by audition to the 2020-21 Florida All-State Band! This year the audition process was especially complicated and we are proud of Graceson for all of his hard work, preparation, and for his accomplishment!
Click this link to read the very informative and encouraging recent research performed at the University of Minnesota with wind instruments and Covid spread - https://twin-cities.umn.edu/news-events/musical-instruments-dont-spread-aerosols-far-you-might-think Because of this article, Mr. C and Mr. M have reconfigured some of the instrument seating again to fit the outcomes of this research. With vapors only reaching a maximum of 1.9 ft according to this research, with our band room seating already at 6 feet apart, and with our 2 new hospital grade HEPA air filters, we are encouraged that we are doing everything we can to keep our musicians healthy.

Attention all level band students - Several people have contacted me concerning that as they start to view schedules on FOCUS, it does not show a Band class. I’ve contacted the front office and they said schedules are not currently correct online and won’t be until some time after the second week of August. Another question has been "Can my child come to school for only Band and take their other classes online?" The answer is yes, but you must supply the transportation to and from. ALSO... "yes" depends on which of the 3 options you choose. Please click Options button below to learn more
