Parent Information:
- Please drop your child off at the car rider ramp and drive around to a parking space. Do not leave the campus parking lot.
- If your child is only playing a solo, they should be back within 15 to 20 minutes.
- If they are doing one additional event, they should be back near 5 minutes after their last event.
- No parents are to be in the building, only student performers, the judges, and Mr. C and Mr. M.
- We are still offering during class and after school help. Encourage your child to sign up for help.
- Wear your Band Polo Shirt and nice dark slacks, dark jeans, or a dark long skirt for ladies.
- School procedures. Therefore, wear your mask the entire time except for when you are playing your instrument where we have distanced you.
- Walk from the car ramp to the double doors that lead to the science wing. Front office doors will not be used.
- Go directly to the warm-up room. If you have your case, leave it up against a wall in the warm-up room. Don’t overdo your warm up if you are a brass player – stay fresh. Reed players – have an extra good-working reed with you. Percussion – don't forget your mallets.
- 10 minutes before your time, be at the warm-up room, Teachers lounge in the 8th grade hallway, across from Ms. Mainer’s room. There will be stands set up distanced for you to do a short warm up in that room. Please only warm up where a stand is set up. Do not move stands in the warm-up room. They are set up distanced.
- 5 minutes before your performance, go to the door of your performance room and wait until the judge is ready for you.
- When you enter your room, play a short additional warm up as we prepare your piano part on SmartMusic.
- When you finish your performance, listen attentively to your judge. Be polite and courteous. This is a learning opportunity and probably an opportunity to hear something positive from a seasoned professional.
- Before the 10th, number all your measures on your copy of the music. This way the judge can speak to you about specific measures in your music.
- Thank your judge as you exit your room.
- When you are done, go back to the warm-up room and get your belongings and head to your parent’s vehicle. You are free to go home.
- Your results will be ready on Monday the 12th. This includes your overall grading, your judges written comments and, if you make an overall “A”, you will later be receiving a solo medal. Go for the gold! Give it your best shot by working daily on your solo. 😊
