For clarification purposes to hopefully resolve confusion of the terminology on the SRCSD website, here is how the learning options apply to band:
- Brick and Mortar option, (salmon colored option on district website) - Your child will be able to fully participate and learn in their band class daily on campus. (If your child is in Jazz Band, this is your only option…see Virtual info below. If your child is a Beginner, this option is highly recommended.)
- Full-time Virtual, (Blue option on district website) - Your child will be able to fully participate and learn in band class daily on campus if you provide transportation to and from their band class. (If your child is a Beginner, on-campus band with Virtual other classes is highly recommended. For Jazz students doing Full-Time Virtual, only one period of elective is allowed on campus, therefore jazz students would have to give up jazz and take only their primary band class on campus. Only the Brick and Mortar option will allow a jazz student to take Jazz as their required second elective. As a matter of fact, only the Brick and Mortar option will allow for any 2 electives on campus. Only one elective can be taken on campus under the Virtual option.)
- Santa Rosa Remote – (green option on district website) This option is the most limiting option for band and in only rare circumstances will your child be able to be on campus during their level of band class. As of today, no remote version of band will be offered. This interpretation of Remote came from my administration. Please call Mr. Koger if you have questions about this option.
