This is the sign up page for the Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA) Solo and Ensemble Festival. The event is Saturday, April 12th. (THIS FORM IS DUE Saturday 3/1) This event is highly educational, recommended, but NOT required. Please only sign up if parent and student have agreed to the commitment and student is available April 12th.

Preparing for the event is an opportunity for improvement and growth for young musicians. At the actual event, each student has a judge assigned to them that will listen to and critique their performance, along with teaching/learning opportunities from the professional assigned to them. Students receiving an overall grade of "A" from their judge will receive an FBA Solo/Ensemble Medal!

The Band account pays $7 per student, per event, so please understand that you will owe the band account $7 per event only if you back out of an event after March 1st.

IF YOU USE THE BAND-HIRED PIANIST FOR YOUR SOLO (FBA REQUIRES A PIANIST FOR ALL SOLOS) PLEASE MAKE $25 CHECK OUT TO "HOBBS BAND" BY MARCH 1ST. If you are using your own pianist, you do not need to pay band account and indicate so below.

Solo is the most beneficial and educational of the 2 allowed events. Therefore, please place PRIORITY on performing a solo. If you can not afford the 25 dollars for a pianist, send Mr. C a hand written note from parent and we will assist you with this cost.

Maximum 2 events. ---- You can sign up for one solo OR You can sign up for 1 solo with an ensemble OR you can sign up for 1 ensemble, or you can sign up for 2 ensembles.

PLEASE put priority on solo literature before making commitment to an ensemble. Make sure everyone in your ensemble says YES to participating. Solo must be on your primary instrument. Ensemble can be on any instrument you play.

In what event(s) on April 12th does your child want to participate? Remember - 2 events maximum. Based on what your child picks, Mr. C will pick appropriate level music for your child that is on the approved FBA solo/ensemble list. *

Solo Only. Requires the band-hired pianist, (see below), OR pianist of your own. This is the most educationally beneficial event. Should take priority over ensemble only. Solo with 1 additional ensemble (pianist required for solo only, pianist very rarely with ensemble.) Ensemble, Without a solo. (Please strongly consider a solo) all names must agree to participate. Second Ensemble - must be a different type of ensemble than first ensemble and all names must agree to participate and can not be done with a solo since another ensemble is your first event.

Choose WHAT TYPe of ensemble, MAKING SURE YOUR OTHER STUDENTS HAVE SAID YES TO THE GROUP. number of student names must match NUMBER OF STUDENTS (QUARTET = 4 STUDENTS, etc.) *

If you are in an ensemble, list each student name in the ensemble. If you are in 2 ensembles, list names for both ensembles. (Music will be given out in class as soon as Mr C has them ready.) *
